Before You Start
- Declutter First:
Remove all unnecessary items from surfaces and rooms to provide clear access.
- Gather Supplies:
Collect necessary cleaning supplies like disinfectants, glass cleaner, and rags.
- Ventilate:
Open windows to ensure proper airflow, especially when using cleaning products.
General Deep Cleaning Tasks
- Ceilings: Dust and clean ceiling fans, and wipe down light fixtures and light shades.
- Walls: Wipe down walls, and clean door frames and baseboards.
- Windows: Clean windows, window sills, and blinds.
- Furniture & Surfaces: Dust and clean all surfaces and furniture. Wipe down chair and table legs.
- Floors: Vacuum, sweep, and mop all floors, and clean behind and under furniture.
- Doors & Fixtures: Clean doors, door handles, and light switches.
- Trash: Empty all trash and waste baskets.
- Vents & Filters: Clean air conditioner vents and check/replace the air filter.
- Kitchen: Clean the interior of cabinets, drawers, and the refrigerator.
- Bedrooms: Remove bedding, wash sheets and blankets, and flip the mattress.
- Closets: Dust and clean all closet shelves and organize items.
After Cleaning
- Safety Check: Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure they are working.
- Replace Bulbs: Replace any dead lightbulbs as needed.
- Freshen Drains: Unblock and freshen drains.
